Eight hundred onlookers cheered Olympic and international skaters at The Rinks in Shelton as they raised $22,000 for Norwalk's Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Westport residents Daniel Inamorati, 17, and Ilana Phillips, 16, organized and produced the fund-raiser. The show was hosted by Darien's Frank Simms; Stamford singer Annie Nirschel was the special musical guest. The fund-raiser featured Olympian Caryn Kadavy, a world bronze medalist; Melissa Gregory and Denis Putukhov, Olympic ice dancers and three-time U.S. national silver medalists; and The Skyliners Synchro Team from the Tri-state area - national competitors - ranked sixth in the country.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, founded by parents of children with Type 1-Juvenile Diabetes, focuses on accelerating research progress to cure diabetes and its complications. (800) 533-CURE or www.jdrf.org.
